記得第一次修讀林榮洪先生的中國教會史時﹐選了“中國三十年代復興運動”作為論文題材。本以為這一題目的資料豐富﹐不難把論文寫好。那知因為資料實在太豐富了﹐以至無法好好處理﹐最後論文變成擇要 - 沒有論題﹐也沒有論證。總算林教授手下留情﹐才不至“肥佬”。
經過他指出錯處﹐並解說寫作論文的方法論後﹐我決定再作嘗試。倪柝聲人觀是我掌握了寫論文的要訣後所寫的﹐而所修的科目是中國神學﹐所以這是一篇名副其實的神學論文。
這論文所引用的材料都是第一身的。用第一身的素材能確保文章的原創性﹐亦同時強迫寫論文者消化材料﹐找出材料與材料之間的脈絡﹐從而定出最獨一無二的論題。其實找到出來的脈絡便是你的論證﹐而論題則是憑所找到的證據所作的一句總結。然而﹐實在有太多的文章是先找題目﹐再找論證。對我來說﹐這是很棒的發現呢﹗
